BBC Tiny Happy People | Amazing Babies
Mosaic Films
Mosaic Films researched, scripted, directed and animated this series of 26 films for BBC’s ‘Tiny Happy People’.
The aim: to help parents boost the literacy and language skills of their babies and toddlers aged 0-3 years old.
These films are short animations which each contain a simple amazing fact about babies-ranging from newborns, through to three-year olds. These are facts to inspire, and to marvel at, and to also help parents and carers foster positive interactions with their child. From first discoveries, to brain development and everything in-between, babies are incredible!
We made a series of 12 additional silent films with on screen text for GP surgeries so these films could be played in waiting rooms across the country.
You can watch the full series online here.

Our creative process, from inception to the final product:
Research: The campaign began as a response to the lack of existing information for young parents on the importance of boosting language and literacy skills in the first 3 years of life. We read the latest scientific research and spoke to experts in the field to identify ways in which parents and babies can incorporate fun and stimulating activities into everyday life to help with language and literacy skills.
Writing the script: We processed key messages from our research and translated them into engaging and relatable scripts aimed to make impact!
Storyboarding: Our in-house animation team then worked hard to create storyboards and character designs to bring the script to life.
Sound design: The voice over artists did a great job at communicating the importance of the messages in a friendly yet trustworthy tone, we produced the audio and made sure that the messages were clear and informative.
Animation: Using bright colour palettes and smooth transitions to illustrate the facts, these animations are brilliant resources and have an important role in the development of language in babies and toddlers in the UK as one of the first campaigns of its kind. Amazing stuff!
