THE BIG PUSH
cC
The Big Push uses the work of Scottish poet John Glenday, who was commissioned to write a poem in response to the 1916 Herbert James Gunn painting 'The Eve of the Battle of the Somme’. A powerful piece of writing, the poem provides a depth and richness to the painting. The notoriously laborious paint-on-glass method was then employed to create the animation - in a conscious attempt to use the same medium that Gunn had for the painting itself. A collaboration with the Poetry Society and the Fleming Collection, and Mosaic Films. The film is on display at the Fleming Collection Gallery in London.
